The Awakening Begins – A Cinematic AI Sci-Fi Journey
Echoes of the Obelisk – Chapter 1 is an original AI-generated short film and my first major piece using Google DeepMind Veo 2. Born from my lifelong love of science fiction, the film introduces a mysterious, cinematic world where something ancient begins to stir. From story to sound, this fully AI-assisted project showcases a deeply immersive sci-fi narrative. It was selected to be featured on ESCAPE.AI, a platform curated by The Matrix’s visual designer, highlighting leading voices in AI creativity.
Creative Process
- Concept, Storyboarding & Prompt Development: The entire narrative and visual planning process was developed using ChatGPT. I used it not just for world-building and dialogue, but also to refine prompts, troubleshoot visual generation issues, and shape the tone of the story.
- Visuals & Design: All visuals—including the title shot—were created using Google DeepMind Veo 2’s text-to-video system. I crafted cinematic sci-fi visuals directly through prompt engineering.
- Animation & Motion: Animation was generated entirely with Veo 2 and then upscaled using Topaz AI to enhance visual sharpness and fidelity.
- Editing: The final edit was assembled in CapCut, focusing on seamless transitions, cinematic rhythm, and atmosphere.
- Sound & Music: Voiceovers were created with ElevenLabs, and sound effects were sourced from Pixabay. Together, they gave the film a moody, immersive sound design that elevated the sci-fi feel.
